Macclesfield
Macclesfield sits on the western edge of the Peak District in east Cheshire and made its name as a silk town, a story still told in its museums and surviving mill buildings. Locals also know it by its old nickname, Treacle Town, and steep steps climb from Waters Green up to the parish church. The area reaches Bollington beneath White Nancy, Prestbury, Poynton, Disley, Gawsworth, Rainow, Lower Withington and the hills around Macclesfield Forest and Wincle. Expect cheering stories here from the town, its villages and the hills around them.
