Three decades of beauty: how Beauty Works became an Alderley Edge institution

In a village that has seen plenty of comings and goings on its high street, Beauty Works has been a reassuring constant. The salon has been established in the heart of Alderley Edge since 1995, and three decades on it remains one of the best-known names in Cheshire beauty.
At the helm is owner Nia Bourne, who has spent more than two decades in Alderley Edge and, unusually for a salon owner, still treats clients herself. That hands-on approach goes some way to explaining the loyalty the salon inspires; many regulars have been booking in for years.
Beauty Works' reputation has been built on a long and close relationship with Guinot, the French skincare house known for its professional facials. The salon has been recognised by Guinot as a UK Crown salon every year since the award was introduced in 1999, an unbroken run that speaks to remarkable consistency in customer care and treatment standards.
There have been bigger moments too. In 2007 Beauty Works was named Guinot Grand Prix Salon of the Year, and in 2011 it went on to win the Crown of Crowns award, which recognised it as the best salon in the whole of the UK and Ireland. Today it holds Guinot Crown Elite Salon status.
Awards aside, what keeps clients coming back is a sense that this is a proper neighbourhood salon with exceptionally high standards. The team offers a full menu of facials, body treatments and beauty services, along with a beauty boutique where clients can pick up products to continue their routine at home.
In an era of fast-moving beauty trends and pop-up studios, there is something quietly impressive about a business that has simply kept doing things well for thirty years. For Alderley Edge, Beauty Works is as much a part of the village's character as its boutiques and cafés.
For newcomers, the appeal is easy to understand. A long-established team, a menu shaped by years of listening to clients, and a setting right in the middle of the village make it an easy place to book a treat, whether that is a regular facial or a pre-holiday pamper. Many clients, it seems, simply never feel the need to go anywhere else.
