As the nights draw in, Chester's live music fans have plenty to look forward to. The Live Rooms on Station Road, which bills itself as the city's largest independent live music venue and nightclub, has a busy autumn calendar stretching from rock guitar heroes to some of the country's favourite tribute acts.

The multi-room venue sits at 1 Station Road, just a few minutes' walk from Chester railway station, making it an easy night out for gig-goers from across Cheshire and North Wales. Its spaces can be configured for standing gigs and seated shows, and the building as a whole can accommodate up to around 800 people.

The site has a long association with entertainment in the city. It was formerly home to the Laugh Inn comedy club before being reinvented as a live music venue and nightclub by the team behind Central Station, the well-known North Wales music venue. Comedy still has a place in the building too, with Chester Comedy Corner hosting nights at the venue featuring nationally known acts.

This autumn's listings show the breadth of the programme. American guitarist John 5 is booked for 15 October, while Depeche Mode tribute The Devout will host a Black Celebration night on Friday 30 October. November brings Breed 77 on 7 November and Liverpool singer-songwriter Jamie Webster on 20 November, and mod favourites From The Jam are due on 6 December.

Tribute nights are a particular strength. Earlier in the season the venue welcomed Definitely Oasis, and it has also played host to Rush EUCon 2026, a special weekend featuring three Rush tribute bands to celebrate 30 years of the Rush EUCon fan events.

Independent venues of this size play an important role in the regional music ecosystem, giving touring artists a stage between small pub back rooms and big city arenas, and giving Chester audiences the chance to see well-known names without heading to Liverpool or Manchester.

Tickets for upcoming shows are available through the venue's website and the usual ticketing platforms. With a programme that changes week by week, it is well worth keeping an eye on the listings.
