Knutsford's King Street is best known for its boutiques, bars and restaurants, but tucked away at 44-46 King Street is a space dedicated to slowing down. Satya Sanctuary, founded by Charlotte Montgomery, is an inclusive wellbeing studio that has quickly become part of the fabric of the town.

The studio's timetable is impressively broad. Infrared hot yoga, Pilates, reformer Pilates and barre sit alongside more unusual offerings such as trapeze yoga, as well as meditation, family sessions and baby-friendly classes. With more than 50 classes a week, running seven days from 6.30am to 9pm, there is something to suit early risers and after-work regulars alike.

Inclusivity is at the heart of the idea. Satya describes itself as a studio for all levels, and the mix of classes reflects that, whether you are stepping onto a mat for the first time or looking to challenge yourself on the reformer.

New and expectant parents are particularly well looked after. The studio runs parent-and-baby classes including baby yoga and baby massage, along with Mamma Barre and Mamma Reformer, giving new mums a way to move, connect and get out of the house in a welcoming setting.

The studio's popularity was underlined when it was named a finalist in the Yoga / Pilates Studio category of the 2025 Cheshire Muddy Stilettos Awards, the reader-voted awards that celebrate independent lifestyle businesses across the county.

For a town with a strong sense of community, it feels like a natural fit: a calm, welcoming space in the middle of everything, and a studio that sees wellbeing as something to be shared rather than practised behind closed doors. For newcomers nervous about joining a class, that welcoming spirit is perhaps its greatest selling point.

The variety is part of the appeal. A regular might mix a sweaty infrared hot yoga session with a slower meditation class later in the week, or swap a reformer workout for something more playful on the trapeze. It is the kind of timetable that makes it easy to keep things fresh, and to keep coming back.

Satya Sanctuary is at Unit 6a, 44-46 King Street, Knutsford WA16 6DT. Classes can be booked via satyasanctuary.co.uk.
