Padel Sheds serves up Chester's first indoor padel club

Chester has embraced plenty of new trends over the years, but few have caught on quite as quickly as padel. When Padel Sheds opened its doors in early September 2025, it became the city's first-ever indoor padel club, and the response was immediate: more than 4,000 visitors came through in the first month alone, from complete beginners to seasoned players.
The venue occupies a 12,000 sq ft building just a few minutes from the city centre, within the West Chester business park area. Inside are four top-quality indoor courts, so games go ahead whatever the weather, along with a stylish bistro café and sports bar that has made the club as much a social hub as a sporting one.
The model is refreshingly simple. Padel Sheds operates on a pay-and-play basis, meaning there is no membership to sign up to; anyone can book a court online and turn up to play. For a sport that thrives on word of mouth, with friends inviting friends to make up a four, removing that barrier has clearly paid off.
Padel's rise in Britain has been remarkable, and it is easy to see why. Played in doubles on an enclosed court, it borrows from tennis and squash but is far easier to pick up than either, with rallies that keep going thanks to the glass walls. Most newcomers find themselves enjoying proper points within minutes, which explains why so many first-timers come back for more.
The arrival of the club was the result of a property deal brokered by Legat Owen, which marked the occasion as bringing Chester its first indoor padel experience. The business has made clear that Chester is just the start, with plans to bring more indoor padel facilities to towns and cities across the UK.
For Chester players, the immediate attraction is having a dedicated indoor venue close to home, with somewhere to relax over coffee or a drink afterwards. Whether you are looking for a new way to keep fit, a fresh idea for a team social or simply something different to do with friends on a wet weekday evening, it is well worth a visit.
Courts at Padel Sheds can be booked online, and the bistro and bar are open to players and spectators alike.
