CurrentBody brings its beauty-tech know-how to Alderley Edge high street

It has been quite a chapter for CurrentBody. The Cheshire-grown beauty technology business, best known for its LED face masks and at-home devices, has become a stock market name and opened a flagship clinic on Alderley Edge's London Road.

The story began in 2009, when chief executive Laurence Newman and chief technology officer Andrew Showman founded the business that grew out of CurrentBody.com. Today it sits within The Beauty Tech Group, which develops, manufactures and retails at-home beauty devices under three premium brands: CurrentBody Skin, ZIIP Beauty and Tria Laser.

In October 2025 The Beauty Tech Group listed on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange under the ticker TBTG, with shares priced at 271p and an expected market value of around £300 million. According to the British Beauty Council, it was the first beauty tech company to IPO and the first UK beauty company to list on the main market, a striking milestone for a business with Cheshire roots.

Closer to home, CurrentBody Skin: The Clinic opened at 34 London Road, Alderley Edge, in March 2025. The clinic spans 2,837 sq ft across three floors, with five treatment rooms, a reception area, an Observ skin analysis room and a dedicated event space.

The idea is to blend professional in-clinic treatments with the brand's at-home devices, so that a client's routine continues long after they leave. Aesthetic and wellness treatments are carried out by GMC- and NMC-registered professionals, and the menu also extends to a wider range of wellness services.

Alderley Edge, with its well-heeled high street and reputation for style, is a natural home for the concept, and the clinic adds another destination to a village that already knows a thing or two about looking good.

For Cheshire, the company's rise is also a business success story worth celebrating. A firm founded locally has grown into an international beauty tech player, and its decision to open a flagship clinic in the county keeps a visible presence on home turf.
